Free file hosting, the way it should be.
sourcemirrors.org exists to keep sharing a file simple, fast, and safe — for everyone, with no account and no surveillance. We believe moving a file from one person to another shouldn’t cost money, demand your identity, or put anyone at risk of malware.
What we stand for
Free, no strings
Upload files up to 512 MB and get a direct link. No account, no paywall, no “premium” tier gating your download speed.
Every file is scanned
Before a file is ever served, it’s checked with the ClamAV engine and cross-referenced against VirusTotal. Anything flagged is rejected, not hosted.
Private by default
Uploads are anonymous. We don’t make you sign up, we don’t build a profile on you, and we keep only the minimum needed to fight abuse.
Validated content
We verify each file’s real type against a safe allowlist. Web-executable and native-executable formats are refused, so our links can’t become an attack vector.
How we keep uploads safe
Safety isn’t a checkbox — it’s layered. Each upload passes through several independent checks before it earns a public link:
- Type validation. The file’s true MIME type (not just its extension) must match a curated allowlist of safe formats.
- Local malware scan. ClamAV inspects the file against a continuously updated signature database.
- Reputation check. The file is cross-referenced against VirusTotal’s multi-engine results, and rejected if too many engines flag it.
- Rate limiting. Per-IP throttling keeps automated abuse from overwhelming the service for everyone else.
Open-source mirrors
We’re also building free, fast download mirrors for popular open-source projects, so the software the world relies on stays easy to get — from anywhere, at no cost. See what’s coming →
